Our Story and Mission

About Us

Founder John Whaley moved to Tahoe in 1972 chasing powder and ski racing dreams. Like many young ski racers at the time, he quickly found himself       balancing mountain life with working at a local pizza joint — Lakehouse Pizza — where he learned the restaurant business and perfecting his pizza crust.

Eventually, John realized the ski bum lifestyle had an expiration date. Teaming up with a few local Tahoe guys, he opened his own restaurant in Tahoe Vista: Lakeview Pizza & Spirits. The restaurant became a local staple, but after getting married and raising five kids, the late nights and weekend restaurant life became less ideal for a family.

A local friend encouraged John to get into the trades — specifically tile work — and in the late 1980s, he made the leap from pizza ovens to mudding walls. He sold the restaurant and started building a new career from the ground up.

Over the years, John built a reputation for craftsmanship, precision, and old-school work ethic. In the early 2000s, he expanded the company into fabrication allowing the business to offer even more custom services to clients throughout the Tahoe area.

Now, more than 35 years later, John still actively works in the company every day. Today the business has become a true family operation, with his son Connor leading projects in the field as project manager, while his two daughters run the office virtually.

From pizza crusts to custom stonework — craftsmanship has always been at the center of everything we do.

Behind every successful business is a great team!
